Rolandas Pocius: Lithuanian

Before there was current Lithuanian transplant Robert Burneika climbing up the US amateur ranking there was Rolandas Pocius, the super heavyweight who won his class at the 2007 World Amateur Championships, competing around 270lbs, but was beaten to the overall by Pole Robert Piotrkowicz, now a top IFBB pro.

Pocius won the European Amateur Championships as a heavyweight in 2001 and placed 3rd at the World's. He was disqualified from the competition is 2002, returned in 2004 placing 2nd in the heavyweight class, and then in 2006 was again runner up, this time in the super heavies. With multiple Mr. Lithuanian wins (2004 and 2005 in the 85kgs class, 2006 and 2007 in super heavy) you would have imagined 5'10" Pocius to proceed further on the international stage, but after winning his class at the 2007 World's he did not secure a good sponsorship deal and bodybuilding being the expensive sport it is, Pocius, currently 36, has disappeared from competition. Read an interviews with him here and here.
